ABOUT THE LECTURESHIP

The Saul Green Memorial Lecture will address the intersection of Judaism, medicine and humanitarianism, all three of which Dr. Green was passionate about in his lifetime. It will focus on the complex humanistic and ethical challenges facing modern medicine, within a Jewish context.

The lectureship is sponsored by Shaar Shalom Synagogue in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, a congregation committed to learning, fellowship and community. It has been endowed by a gift from the Green family to honour the memory of Dr. Saul Green and to inspire and knit together the congregation and the community of Halifax.

The inaugural lecture was organized in cooperation with Dalhousie's Medical Humanities program--a program that seeks to foster a basic knowledge and study of medical history in the context of modern medical practice.
